My name is Jon Roberts

I was born on the 30th May 1967, in RAF Wegberg in West Germany, as my father Paul was serving in the Royal Air Force at the time.
I am 32 years old,and currently live in Exeter,England , where I bought my first house in January 1991, at the age of 23.

My original hometown is Warminster in Wiltshire , where I lived for 17 years, and did all my school exams at Kingdown Comprehensive
I completed my A' levels in Maths and Physics, and went on to be a Milkman for a week , and then a 'showroom assistant' for 4 months , selling everything from Kitchens to Flymos, and loading coal, bricks, and bags of cement into customers cars !!! It gave me my first insight into how to deal with weird, demanding people, and learn to fend for myself. Occasionally I would be running a shop on my own, with queues of up to 30 people waiting to pay their coal bills, straggling out of the shop onto the pavement ! I could see why the owner was a Millionaire, and I soon learnt to understand that 'the person who earns the money' is the guy who 'owns' the business (not the guy who does all the hard work !!!). Eventually I left for a more exciting career.
One of my favorite activities is 'Holidays', preferably near boats, palm trees ,and white sandy beaches. I have on several occasions booked last minute holidays, as I like the surprise element ! in 1998 I booked a holiday in Cyprus in the morning, drove up to Heathrow Airport in the Afternoon (rather hastily) to catch a flight at the last minute, and ended up in a 5 star hotel in the evening (for 150 quid !) Here is a picture taken in Tenerife just before going out on the beer !!! I'm not wearing any trousers as I forgot to pack them in the mad rush to the airport !!!

My career spans an action packed 14 years with IBM, the worlds largest computer company. I work for IBM UK as a Systems Services Representative, in the South West of England.
I specialise in Installation & Maintenance of IBM Mainframe Computer Systems, working mainy on RS6000, AS400 and Enterprise ES9000 systems. Pictured on the right is an IBM SP supercomputer identical to the IBM 'Deeper Blue' Chess machine which defeated World Chess Champion - Garry Kasparov in 1997. I have recently installed an IBM SP at Exeter University which is 8 times more powerful, and is currently the 2nd most powerful computer system in any University in the UK.
